Here we are. The moment we've all been waiting for. Glenn and his neighbor, (Brent on the left), we started up the motor with no problems!
Now for the CAM Break-In. A procedure calling for me to rev' it up to 2500 rpms and vary the RPMs for about 20-30 Minutes.

OH NO !! where's all that smoke coming from !!
About 10 minutes into the cam breakin, we had a small problem. The lower tranny coolant line started to piss on the heddar and well, from a past experience Glenn had, he took off and got his fire extingiusher. We also cleared the backyard of the kids and got his wife to move the car out of the driveway. Should a problem arise ...
When he told me we could have a fire here, I started to really worry. I just relaxed the throttle abit and brought the rpms down to about 2500, and the leak settled down abit and it wasn't spraying on the heddar anymore.
Glenn had a past experience which ended with small fire :), so he was just being pre-cautious ...

Towards the end of the break-in, things were looking REAL GOOD!!! and WOW!!, I couldn't believe how my car was sounding. The ROAR'ing was awesome.

I don't think Glenn's neighbors appreciated it much as we did the cam-breakin at 8pm, and with open heddars :).

Just as we finished the cam breakin, I let the car down to idle when the temp light came on, so we just shut her down and let her rest.

A few shots of the motor, with a few upgrades, all back together. Most importantly.... RUNNING!!! Now for the tuning.
I had to borrow an air cleaner from Glenn as the base of mine didn't clear the fuel line on the carb, and thank you to his neighbor who lent me an old set of HEI wires to use until I got a good set of Accels.

As discussed on the Nova ListServ, some of us weren't sure if I could still use a column shifter with the Hedman Heddars.
As you can see, there are NO clearence problems at all and lotsa room around the heddars.

Seeing how I couldn't use the stock throttle bracket even after we altered it, we couldn't connect up the tranny kickdown cable. I ran to the local speed shop and purchased a throttle/kickdown cable bracket.

I have to thank the guys on the Nova ListServ as when I was stuck, they sent me pictures of the bracket they were using... THANKS GUYS!!, so I had an idea of what I was buying ...

Almost done, a picture with my NEW Chrome Air Cleaner & Wires. My friend Trevor custom fitted them for me for a nice neat clean look.
I replaced the Cap/Coil & Rotor with some spare parts my friend Trev had kicking' in his garage.

...and here she is, PHASE #1 Complete.

L65 350 Rebuilt, 4bbl 600cfm, Cam, Heddars, HEI & Rebuilt TH350 with High Stall (1800) & Stage 2 - Shift Kit

I would like to take a moment to thank Glenn for his wisdom and guidance, as this project never would of begun without him. Tho thru the troubled moments when I was ready to sell the car for $300 to get rid of it, he helped me out whether it was guiding me or going thru the manual with me. THANK YOU Glenn. Also, thanks again for the use of your garage, even with the urges of rebuilding your dirt bikes, you let me take my time and we did a hell of a GREAT job!!.

Addition "Thank You's" to ALL the guys on the Nova ListServ, especially Bruce Johnson, Craig Watson, Roger Norman, and some friends, Trevor L, Derek, Bob McDill, my Dad and my grampa.

THANKS GUYS !!!
