Broken Rocker Stud


Here's a pic of CAA coming to my rescue at 2:20am in the morning. First night out cruisin' in the 2005 season and I'm off to a GREAT start. Only had the car out for 4 days when something went BOOM!, BANG! and the car started to shake badly ... This was the first time ever I had to have my car towed ... well, second, the first time it was flatbed'd when the cops inpounded it after I hit a pedristian.


I could hit abit of clanging on the passenger side, I thought maybe I dropped a valve or something ... so I started by removing the valve cover. Here's exactly what I found ...


Here's the damage, one broken rocker stud and what was left of it. One marked up rocker and one bend pushrod.


Noticed that some of the other studs were showing the same kinda wear ... You can also see how the guides have worn and are kind of rounded.


Here's what left of the motor, after pulling apart the top-end.
